MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Thank you for your interest in the Husky Marching Band! As part of the Athletic Department, the UW Husky Marching Band is open to students from practically every degree-granting program at the UW, as well as students at other colleges and universities in the Seattle area. These students get the chance to take part in one of America’s most exciting collegiate marching bands, thereby providing for their continued musical growth and, more importantly, enabling them to establish life-long friendships and gain lasting memories.
I encourage you to fill out the Auditions Registration Form so that you may receive our audition updates. Please do not let the fact that a playing audition is required discourage you from trying out. First and foremost, we want you in the band!
Auditions for all first-year members who play a brass or woodwind instrument will be held virtually, with video auditions due on Thursday, August 1st at 11:59pm PT. If you are interested in auditioning for the Husky Band Drumline, please visit our Drumline Audition Page for all details. Drumline Auditions will be held in-person on Saturday, June 1st from 9am-5pm. The UW Drumline also has a week-long camp in August, and more information will be distributed upon successful audition into the group.
Upon acceptance to the band, all members are required to attend a mandatory camp referred to as "Pre-School Drills" from Monday, September 2nd through Friday, September 6th (8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.). During this week, members learn a pregame and halftime show, and participate in section rehearsals focused on marching, music and choreography. The first full-band performance will be at the UW vs. Eastern Michigan game on Saturday, September 7th.
Once again, I hope you will consider becoming a member of the celebrated Husky Band. Exciting musical opportunities and experiences lie ahead for you here at the University of Washington!

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
The Husky Marching Band membership is open to any student enrolled at the University of Washington, UW Branch Campuses, surrounding Community Colleges and/or through the UW Non-Degree Program. Matriculated students must be registered for MUSEN 303A or MUSEN 503A on the graduate level (both are (2) two-credit courses) in order to participate in the HMB. Non-matriculated students must be registered for the same course(s) through the UW Non-Degree Program. The cost to register as a non-matriculated student in MUSEN 303A for the 2023-2023 school year is currently $801.00 (UW Non-Degree Program Fees). There are no additional cost for matriculated students if your course-credits do not exceed 18-credits (including Marching Band). Both matriculated and non-matriculated students must be registered for the course by the first day of Autumn Quarter (Wednesday, September 27th, 2023).
