We hope you will consider joining us for our 14th annual Husky Day of Marching Percussion on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. Due to past support from local educators around the Greater Puget Sound Region (as well as British Columbia); and the continued backing of the Pearl Corporation, this event has blossomed into one of the premiere marching percussion clinics on the west coast. Below is a schedule of the day’s exciting events:
- Registration and Check-in (8:00am – 9:00am): All students and directors will receive a packet with technique exercise, and cadence music and a door prize ticket stub.
- Overview of the Day and UW Drumline Demo (9:00am – 10:45am): Students will enjoy a technique and musical clinic demonstration by the University of Washington Drumline Instructors and the University of Washington Drumline.
- (NEW FOR 2017!) Instrument Master Classes (10:45am – 12:00pm): Students will attend instrument master classes conducted by guest clinicians. Topics will include tuning, technique, musicality, and effective practice habits.
- Break and Door Prizes (12:00pm – 1:00pm): Please bring your own lunch, water will be provided.
- Small Group Master Classes and Director’s Luncheon (1:00pm – 3:00pm): Students will be taught in small groups by University of Washington Drumline members and overseen by the guest clinicians. Students will learn a few technique exercises and short stands cadences, as well as effective rehearsal methods. Directors will attend the Director’s Luncheon.

Important information, please read carefully!
All participants will be asked to bring their own equipment and lunch (water will be provided). We do have extra drums and if a student forgets his or her drum, we will be happy to provide the necessary equipment (based on availability). In order to ensure that all students have something to play, please bring your own equipment, including harnesses and drum stands if available.
August 1st is the registration deadline. Below you will find the registration form. Please note that the clinic fee is $75 per school, regardless of the size of your group (high school students only please). Due to demand, we have also added an option for individual students to attend, if their high school does not plan to attend as a group. The clinic fee for an individual participant is $20 (up to (3) three individual participants per a school; if a school has (4) four or more participants, they should register as a school). You can pay the fee by check (made out to the Husky Marching Band) or by credit card to be relayed via phone (details following registration information below). An invoice is available upon request. If your school district is paying for the event, submit one copy of the printed registration sheet to your district by the August 1st deadline. (Due to event expenses incurred by the Husky Band program based on pre-registration, we will be unable to refund your school’s registration fee should you have to partially or completely cancel your participation.)
We believe strongly in fundamental philosophies and methods that apply to percussionists of all experiences and backgrounds. So, whether your drumline is experienced in contemporary or traditional techniques; in its infancy, or looking to continue to build upon its current foundations, we guarantee your students will all greatly benefit from the quality instruction they will receive from our clinic staff.
